Fitchburg Public Market Manager
Job Description
Detailed Responsibilities Include:
Daily Operations:
Manage and oversee FPM member intake process, including but not limited to, completion of training and certifications, as well as compliance with product and kitchen safety requirements; and ensure all required paperwork is completed and filed;
Manage grocery and market spaces for cleanliness and sanitation as well as proper stocking and pricing;
Manage grocery promotion, sales, and POS system;
Manage FPM staff;
Receive product for both wholesale and retail operations;
Provide consistent onsite support to members; assist members with resolving any problems that may arise in the kitchens;
Support members to identify development needs for their business and refer to technical support services mentioned below;
Ensure that the kitchens and market spaces are cleaned and organized properly after use and at the end of each day, in accordance with previously developed SOP’s, and that all equipment is kept in good working order;
Manage vendor relationships such as cleaning, stocking supplies, permitting and scheduling inspections.
Entrepreneur Support:
Develop and maintain relationships with partner agencies providing technical support to tenants (e.g., legal services, business planning, health and safety etc.);
Teach food safety classes (training provided)
Teach entrepreneurship classes (training provided)
Manage grant supported entrepreneurship programs
Marketing, Reporting and Advocacy:
Market the FPM to the community at-large and secure new members/users;
Collect and organize data from kitchen participants for project evaluation.
Coordinate promotional events
Support educational/awareness events
Job Skills:
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
Commercial kitchen operations and professional food service experience
Current ServSafe Food Manager certification (training provided)
Strong spoken and written language skills in both English and Spanish
Marketing, Business Planning, Event Planning experience desirable
Self-motivated, detail oriented, highly organized and reliable
Ability to manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines
Comfortable working alone and in teams both in-person and online
Excellent customer service skills
Comfort with online collaboration tools, e.g., shared calendars, email, shared folders/files (Google Drive, Google Apps)
Experience and comfort using online databases and web browsers
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Must be available to work a regular weekly schedule including some evening and weekend hours
Must have current driver’s license and clean driving record. Must have regular access to reliable transportation. Duties are primarily in Fitchburg but may require travel within Worcester County and adjacent counties.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
